Congenital Ectropion Repair
This 23 year-old female patient was born with a congenital deformity of her eyelids. This left her with a debilitating condition known as ectropion, which resulted in eye irritation and discomfort. Multiple attempts to repair this deformity at a younger age resulted in significant scarring of the eyelid and worsening deformities. Utilizing a special technique known as a drill-hole canthoplasty, the corners of her eyes were secured in a more anatomic position. In addition, a small support graft known as a spacer graft was utilized inside each eyelid to raise eyelid position. Her result is pictured at 1 year.
