Cheek Reconstruction, Canthopexy After Skin Cancer
This 28 year-old female was unfortunately diagnosed with an aggressive basal cell carcinoma of the inner left cheek. She required 5 rounds of precise Mohs Surgery to clear it. This left her with a very defect of the cheek which could compromise eyelid closure if the reconstruction was not performed correctly. A large cheek advancement flap was performed. The incisions were strategically hidden within the crease of the smile lines and underneath the eyelid. In addition, a support procedure called a canthopexy was performed to prevent the eyelid from drooping downward. Results are shown at 1 year.
