Eyelid and Cheek Reconstruction After Skin Cancer, Canthopexy
This 72-year-old female was diagnosed with a large melanoma in-situ of the left lower eyelid and a majority of her cheek. After her margins were clear, she underwent a very large skin flap reconstruction (known as a Mustardé flap). In instances where surgery is performed on the lower eyelid, the lower eyelid can become easily distorted. In order to prevent this from happening, a procedure known as canthopexy is performed which tightens the corner of the eye to prevent drooping. Results are shown at 1 year.
