Left-Sided Immediate Pre-Pectoral Breast Reconstruction with Tissue Expander Following Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy
This 48 year-old female was diagnosed with left-sided breast cancer. She wished to maintain her same size. The removal of her left breast was performed through a small incision hidden underneath the breast. The nipple tissue was preserved and a two-stage breast reconstruction was performed with MENTOR® ARTOURA™ Breast Tissue Expanders using a prepectoral (i.e. on top of the muscle) technique. Several months later, the expander (left side) and previous implant (right side) were replaced with the most advanced, new “gummy-bear” SIENTRA OPUS HSC+™ silicone implants. Fat transfer to the upper portion of the left breast was also performed to create a very natural contour. Postoperative result at 1 year shows excellent symmetry and shape.
