A Gentle Arch of the Eyebrow is the Foundation for the Upper Face.

The position of your eyebrows says a lot about you. If your eyebrows are too high, you can appear a bit too surprised. If they are too low, you can appear tired and sad. The most youthful appearance of the brow is characterized by a gradual arch, where the outside of the brow is slightly higher than the inside portion. In contrast, a heavy or sagging brow can exacerbate the appearance of excess upper eyelid skin. There are several minimally invasive techniques that can improve brow appearance and flatten wrinkles. Dr. Pacella employs an advanced surgical technique called an endoscopic browlift, which utilizes a small surgical camera and special instrumentation to reposition the brow in a more youthful place. Several of the muscles that cause unsightly wrinkling can be sectioned in order to create a smoother, more contoured upper face.

Browlifts are commonly performed in conjunction with cosmetic upper eyelid procedures. In comparison to older techniques with large scars, the endoscopic browlift utilizes very small incisions to protect nerve supply and diminish scarring. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on whether any additional procedures are performed at the same time as the browlift. Swelling can persist for several weeks and you may return to exercise 1 to 2 weeks after surgery. Brow rejuvenation and eyelid surgery are some of the most gratifying procedures available for patients. If you are interested in restoring a youthful appearance to your upper face, Dr. Pacella is happy to assist you in making this vision a reality.
