Lower Blepharoplasty with Ectropion Repair

This 60 year-old gentleman underwent multiple previous eyelid surgeries which left an “overdone,” sagging appearance to his lower eyelids. In addition, this caused chronic lower eyelid irritation. This condition, known as ectropion, can worsen dry eyes and lead to corneal damage. A precise oculoplastic technique, known as a drill-hole canthoplasty, was utilized to restore the natural connections of the corner of the eyes. His result at 1 year shows excellent eyelid position with alleviation of his eye irritation.

Blepharoplasty with Ptosis Repair

This 68 year-old female was born with a droopy right upper eyelid, a condition known as ptosis. The appearance was not only very troubling cosmetically but caused significant tension headaches. Often times, ptosis can be corrected with a muscle tightening procedure. Unfortunately previous attempts by other providers were not successful. A procedure known as a frontalis sling, which utilizes a wrist tendon to “bypass” the eye muscles and utilize the forehead muscles to raise the eyelid, was performed on the right side. The postoperative result after 6 months shows a restoration of normal eyelid appearance and function.

Asian Blepharoplasty with Ptosis Repair

This 29 year-old gentleman was born with a droopy left upper eyelid. The appearance was not only very troubling cosmetically but caused significant tension headaches. This is very common in congenital eyelid ptosis; a condition which causes weak upper eyelid muscles to fatigue easily. He underwent a tightening of these muscles (known as a ptosis repair or tarsolevator advancement) and an upper blepharoplasty designed specifically to reinforce the Asian appearance of the eyelid. The postoperative result after 6 months shows significant improvement in eyelid position as well as a more rested appearance. His headaches have also dissipated.

Reconstructive Eye Patient 4402

Upper Blepharoplasty with Ptosis Repair

This 82 year-old female was having significant difficulty with seeing objects overhead. In addition, she felt that the appearance of her upper eyelids (particularly her right side) made her look very sleepy. She suffered from a condition known as ptosis which occurs when the muscles that support the upper eyelid loosen over time. This creates a “window-shade” effect to the upper eyelid which can significantly impair vision. She underwent a tightening of these muscles (known as a ptosis repair or tarsolevator advancement) and an upper blepharoplasty. The postoperative result after 1 year shows significant improvement in the position of her eyelids as well as a more youthful appearance.
